Doctors Call For Mass Protests On Algeria's Independence Day Against Bouteflika

The independent Collective of Algerian Medical Residents (CAMRA) called for mass protests on Algeria's independence day celebrations on Tuesday to increase pressure on the country's president who continues to cling to power, according to Reuters. CAMRA said medical students should participate in the protests against President Abdulaziz Bouteflika and denounce the "ruling gangs." Protests have been growing for several weeks amid calls to replace the longtime leader and other veterans of the 1954-1962 war of independence against France. Bouteflika has been in power for more than two decades but announced last week he was reversing his decision to run for a fifth term, but did not stand down....

US police expect to charge suspect in killing of New York mob boss
